GYM MEMBER OF THE MONTH: Anna Stanley

How long have you been a member of Avenue Tennis?
I have been a member since August 2021

Tell us about your experience with your Personal Trainer, Hannah Newman, and your Wellness journey so far.
When I first started at the gym, I won’t lie; I wasn’t looking forward to it. I wasn’t very confident about using the equipment and what to do to achieve my goals. Hannah stepped in and suggested some personal training sessions to get me used to being in the gym and running through all the equipment on a 1 to 1 basis so that I didn’t struggle on my own. In that first session, I immediately felt comfortable and at ease. It changed my view of the gym and fitness in general and how it doesn’t have to be just cardio to lose weight. I now even look forward to my PT sessions, which I thought I’d never say! Hannah has genuinely changed my life for the better, and I cannot thank her enough.

What is your next step here at Avenue Tennis?
My goal is to continue working with Hannah and achieving those PB’s!

Personal Trainer Hannah Newman:
Anna has consistently worked so hard in both our personal training sessions and in her own training in the gym for months and months. She has allowed me to push her out of her comfort zone with challenging new exercises and not let a ‘bad’ day affect her overall outlook on training or the gym. Outside of training, she stays focused on her diet and has developed a positive attitude with her training while knowing the importance of rest days.

I have seen Anna grow so much in such a short space of time in the gym. Her progression with her training has been so rewarding, consistent and motivating. Not only has she been smashing her PB’S across all areas of her training with weights, strength and HIIT. Her mentality towards the gym and training has come on so far. The first day I met Anna, I was worried that she wouldn’t find a rhythm and would struggle to find the motivation to enjoy her workouts. So we discussed and structured her programmes and organised our sessions.

Within the first month, I had to make her take rest days! I have thoroughly loved watching Anna’s progression and working with her. It’s been so rewarding to watch and be a part of her journey. Everyone has ‘good’ and ‘bad’ days in the gym, and even on a ‘bad’ day, she never fails to make me proud by how much she pushes through and gets on with it. I genuinely feel so proud of how far she has come in such a short space of time; I am so excited to continue the hard work with Anna and watch her grow, both mentally and physically.

My next step with Anna is to continue hitting PB’S and helping her achieve her goals. We will do this by consistently training, introducing new exercises and staying focused inside and outside the gym. We will continue to work, build strength and develop cardiovascular fitness to progress her compound personal records. I want to introduce more versions of HIIT training for the end of her sessions as we both feel this benefits her mentally and physically. I want Anna always to come in and feel confident she has enough knowledge about training, why we do things, and how. This is, so she can keep growing within herself and with her training.
