Playlists vs Podcasts

Playlists vs Podcasts which is better?

For most people, having something playing on their headphones whilst working out is essential for keeping their workout exciting. It can also help boost your mood and energy levels which will improve your workout overall!

But which is best to listen to, a playlist or a podcast? Both serve different purposes for a workout, but most importantly, it's entirely down to personal preference.

Playlist
While working out, listening to music helps distract you from feeling tired and increases endurance, making it easier to get through the exercises! You tend to work out for longer without realising it whilst listening to your favourite playlist. Most people tend to feel more motivated and energetic when working out to music. To maximise your mood, choose songs you associate with positivity!

It can also help you keep pace as people tend to synchronise their movements with the rhythm. So for higher intensity workouts, faster songs are best and slower ones for lighter or moderate intensity.

Podcast
Podcasts typically run longer than playlists, so it is better for cardio workouts and long runs! Also, they tend to work like tv episodes. You start one and can't wait to catch up on the next episode, which gets you back in the gym!

Listening to a podcast can work as an easy distraction. Whether this distracts you from tiredness and fatigue, it can also help if you're an anxious person in the gym. Find something you love to listen to! Whether this is interviews, true crime or comedy to keep you motivated to get to the end of the podcast and your workout!
