MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING 2019

Friday 27th September 2019 marked another successful year for Avenue Tennis’s annual Macmillan Coffee Morning. The day was nothing short of good food, great company, and fun and laughter from everyone who visited. We want to start by stating a huge thank you to every person who attended the day and contributed to the Macmillan cause. Whether this was by baking (or faking!) a cake, entering our raffle prize draw, getting involved in our many games, or simply buying a cup of tea. Thank you! We managed to raise a whopping £1003.20 all thanks to your generosity! We understand how cancer can affect people’s whole lives – health, money, family, job; everything. So, this money raised by our charitable members, visitors and staff will be going along to a great cause. We already cannot wait for next year!

We were spoilt for choice with our cake supply, from lemon drizzle and red velvet cake to savoury cheese sticks, everyone was certainly well-fed and satisfied. Maria, our bar staff member and professional makeup artist made sure children were having fun with face painting and glitter!

Adam Church and Jessica Huggins delivered an excellent Circuit Class Bonanza! With over 30 people attending, fun obstacles were placed all over the badminton courts for an hour and 15-minute-long killer workout. The tennis team arranged a tournament between members also for a small fee.

Our Tennis coaches filled up our Avenue Tennis van with bucket loads of tennis balls front and back, then we parked up in our outside canopy, and the games began! For a small donation, our visitors guessed how many tennis balls were in the van to fight for our great prize – one month’s free membership! The lucky winner turned out to be… our platinum member Kevin Mace! With a guess of 1650, Kevin was only seven off the total of 1657. Well done Kevin!

How well do you know the Avenue Tennis staff? MacMillan was your day to put it to the ultimate test… can you match the staff members to their baby photos? For a small donation, visitors were able to guess which baby photo belonged to which staff member. Many tried and many failed, however, Kim Yalcin took the win with our one month’s free membership prize with a very impressive 11 out of 15 guesses correct. Well done Kim!

Our ladies from Body and Sol came down to offer arm and hand massages on their stall during the hours 9-12, this was a great hit with our members and a great addition to the day. Wigmore Florist’s Jolene also took the time to open her stall here to sell her lovely flower arrangements and bouquets at a discounted price, this was also a great success, and she completely sold out! We hope to make these visits an annual event at our MacMillan Coffee Morning, so don’t miss out next year! A big thank you to Vikki and Jolene for this fantastic contribution to our day.

Our raffle prize draw carried on throughout the weekend, and our prizes were drawn from a hat on the Sunday. Every winner has already been contacted. Congratulations to all.

Another big thank you to every person who donated or got involved with Avenue Tennis’s Macmillan Coffee Morning.
