Stay on track

Stay on track with your New Year resolution to get fit…

It's common knowledge that the majority of the population set a resolution to get fit in the New Year. Research from the University of Bristol shows that 88% of us fail to stick to our resolutions! It's easier to get fit than most people expect, of course, it's not going to be smooth sailing or quick process. However, if you give up before you even start, then the only person you are letting down is yourself.

The most common reason for the lack of success is procrastination and making excuses for not making an effort. Make a routine that fits in with your everyday life, then it's not so easy to make excuses. You don't have to make it to the gym every day to get fit. Instead, you could; do a class each week, walk instead of drive, have a personal training session at a set time/day every week, come with a friend or even take up a sport.

Fitness doesn't have to be boring and instead of aiming high set small goals and celebrate achievements. Doing all these things will help you stay positive, and you will soon start to enjoy exercise because you associate it with good things.

Exercise will also release serotonin in your brain, which is the feel-good endorphin. Why not make 2021 the year you achieve your fitness goals? Find one hour each day to make it happen!
