Christmas & The Gym

December for some can be a tough time of the year to stay on track with your fitness. Party season is here, big meals and plenty of drinking! So here are some things to think about that will help you stay on track and still enjoy yourself.

Portion size

Where possible, control your own portion size! Here we can use “The Healthy Plate” as a good rule of thumb when making our meals. Split the plate into thirds, in one third we want a palm sized portion of protein, in another 1 cup of carbs and in the last, as many veggies as you want.

Stay Consistent!

Its very easy to lose focus around this time, skipping the gym may seem tempting but we want to stay as consistent as possible. Even just coming into the gym for a half hour session will help keep you on track. Ask one of our fitness team for advice on how to get the most out of your time in the gym, follow a program, or just come in and do the biggest compound lifts for each body movement.

All movement is good movement

Tennis, a gym session, a run or walk, whatever you’re doing, its helping you stay fit. 10 minutes, half an hour or an hour, any activity you are doing will keep your fitness going!
