GYM MEMBER OF THE MONTH: Matt Terry

How long have you been a member of Avenue Tennis?
I have been a member for just over a year.

Tell us about your experience with your Personal Trainer, Stuart Wiltshire and your Wellness journey so far.
Stuart has been vital in motivating me to lose weight. His personality turned our PT sessions into a far more enjoyable experience whilst still being pushed to my limits in the sessions.

What is your next step here at Avenue Tennis?

  1. To, at the very least, continue our 3 PT sessions a week.
  2. To hit the goal set in our wellness starter to lose 15kg.
  3. Work hard in losing and keeping off the body fat to become a better-looking chap.

Everyone laughed at me 7/8 weeks ago when I told them I was beginning Personal Training sessions, and they didn't believe me when I said 3 times per week and didn't believe that I would keep this going. This award stops that laughter!

We have a saying, 'you make progress or make excuses,' and thanks to Stuart, it has been all progress and no excuses.

Personal Trainer: Stuart Wiltshire
Matt began to achieve his goals by initially being open, honest and understanding that he was overweight and unfit and wanted to make a change. This was very clear to me from our very first phone call. After meeting Matt for the first time, I knew he was driven and dedicated to reaching his goals. He just needed the direction to get there.

We are well on the way to achieving the 3 goals we set out 2 months ago. The plan is in place, and the drive and dedication are there to meet the goals. Matts's drive to reach his goals is the main thing that stands out for me, coupled with a no-nonsense attitude makes him very easy to PT, and each session is an absolute joy. We have achieved so much together already, and the progress will only continue.

  1. Having never picked up a barbell before, Matt is now squatting 60kg, Deadlifting 100kg and Bench pressing 50kg with excellent form.
  2. Matt has lost 5kg body weight in 8 weeks and has dropped 4% body fat, increasing his muscle mass by almost 2kg!
  3. Matt's recovery in between sets and cardio has improved substantially. He is hitting PBs across the board in cardio and weight training sessions.
